In the Garden:
Design Your Dream
Backyard Wildlife
Habitat
Sunday, February 12 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Conserve urban wildlife while saving money! Need assistance planning your conversion from non-native turfgrass requiring weekly maintenance to a more colorful and less costly wildscape?
In this informative and interactive workshop, you will learn how to evaluate your existing yard and implement minor changes so it qualifies for certification by Texas Parks and Wildlife as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat.
Bring along a sketch, diagram or photographs of your backyard and a current plant inventory for critique by the instructor and fellow participants. Various tools found on the internet will be demonstrated as well an interactive DVD from the book Texas Wildscapes: Gardening for Wildlife, Texas A&M Nature Guides Edition (2009) by Kelly Conrad Bender. Upcoming native plant sales, book sales and landscaping classes will be profiled.
Note: The above mentioned book and interactive DVD resource will be available for sale in the Nature Shop. Registration is limited to 12.
