Explore the natural history of Buffalo Bayou by canoe!

The Trip

Learn about the history of Houston's most unique natural asset on a half-day canoe trip on Buffalo Bayou. This area includes the Arboretum and Memorial Park and is one of the wildest portions of the bayou.

The Focus

A series of trips are planned to explore this special urban ecosystem. Trips will include discussion of important conservation issues concerning the bayou. Additionally, each trip will have a special theme, such as birds, history or geology. While canoeing experience is not necessary, a desire to learn definitely is.

Don Greene has been involved in outdoor education and preservation for 30 years and has been a professional guide and outfitter since 1975. He is an American Red Cross canoeing instructor, Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Swiftwater Rescue Technician.
