
Boy Scouts
The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a great place to bring your Boy Scout group - whether it's for their very first nature hike or for an Eagle Scout project.
- Chaperones: One adult for every 10 scouts is required. Two chaperones are included in the
cost of Mini-badge workshop. Any additional adults or children will pay $10 each.
- Registration: To schedule a program for your scout group, fill out our online form.
- Please note: You are not registered until you receive confirmation via email.
- Date changes will incur a $25 fee.
- Payment: Payment is due in full 3 weeks before scheduled program.
- Minimum Class Size: 10 scouts

FOREST TREK
- Go on a one hour hike with a naturalist to learn about observation skills and how to find evidence of wildlife. Open to all age groups from Tiger to Boy Scouts
- Time: 1 hour Cost: $5 per person (including additional adults or children) with a $50 minimum.
CUB SCOUTS- Mini Badge Workshops
- Wolf: Your Living World - Achievement #7
Discover why it is important to take care of our environment and learn some ways you can reduce, reuse and recycle.
- Time: 1.5 hour program Cost: $10 per scout, with $100 minimum.
Bears: Sharing you world with wildlife - Achievement # 5
Find out how a conservation organization takes care of wildlife and how to improve your own home habitat. Learn some birding skills and make a birdfeeder to take home.

Time: 1.5 hour program Cost: $10 per scout, with $100 minimum.
- Webelos: Naturalist
Observe organisms in the wild and learn if they are producers, consumers, or decomposers. Be able to identify venomous snakes and poisonous plants in the area.
Time: 1.5 hour program Cost: $10 per scout, with $100 minimum.
- Webelos: Forester
Understand the importance of the forest ecosystem and why its diverse wildlife depends on these plants. Identify some forest plants and learn how the forest ecosystem works.
Time: 1.5 hour program Cost: $10 per scout, with $100 minimum.
BOY SCOUTS - Mini Badge Workshops
- Nature Merit Badge
Plants and animals are interdependent and ecosystems just won't work without both. Discover nature's diversity as we explore food chains and identify plants and animals in the field.
Time: 2 hour program Cost: $10 per scout, with $100 minimum.
- Reptile and Amphibian Merit Badge
Reptiles and amphibians have an important role in Houston's ecosystems. Come investigate through exploration their: lifecycles, movements, calls and adaptations for survival.
Time: 2 hour program Cost: $10 per scout, with $100 minimum.

EAGLE SCOUTS
The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center offers Eagle Scout Project opportunities. Projects performed in service to the Houston Arboretum typically are finished in one weekend and require the Eagle Scout Candidate to raise funds for their projects. Click here for more information.
