Discovery Room Program

This program consists of a 45 minute appointment exploring interactive exhibits, rotating with a 45 minute Teacher-Lead, Self-Guided Trail activity.

• Minimum 15 students/ Maximum 70 students
• Fee: $6 per person

The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center Discovery Room has interactive exhibits that invite students to learn about pond, meadow, and forest habitats in a fascinating and fun way.

• Students discover at The Learning Tree that animals need the different layers of a tree and a forest to survive..
• Explore onsite aquariums stocked with native animals to learn about pond habitats.
• Learn about residents of Texas Gulf Coast grasslands.

Teachers are given materials to lead students on a short nature walk. Students become wildlife detectives as they look for clues that wildlife leaves behind.

• EXHIBIT TIMES: Groups can be scheduled for 45 minute periods in the Discovery Room, Tuesday through Friday, starting at 9:30 a.m. & every 45 minutes thereafter.
• CHAPERONES: Chaperones assist children in exploring exhibits. One adult for every 10 students is required. Chaperones over the 1:10 requirement pay $6/person.
• CANCELLATIONS: Program fees are non-refundable.
• CHANGES TO ENROLLMENT AFTER CONFIRMATION LETTER HAS BEEN SENT WILL RESULT IN $25 PROCESSING FEE PER EACH CHANGE.
• FEE: $6.00 per child. Payment is due in full upon confirmation of your date. Accepted forms of payment are organizational check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. All checks must be made payable to: Houston Arboretum & Nature Center.

FIELD ADVENTURES:
Schedule a full day for up to 140 students from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Schedule your students for Field Adventures for a FULL Day of Hands-on Science!
Students participate in both the Guided Field Experience and Discovery Room Program.
Fee: $8 per student.
