EcoTracker classes inspire young naturalists - ages 9 to 12 - to explore their surroundings and deepen their knowledge of the natural world. |
All classes include a short introduction inside followed by outdoor activities. The majority of class time is spent outside incorporating hands-on, engaging activities. Participants should come dressed for the weather, wear closed toe shoes, and bring a snack and water.
Programs are held one Saturday a month from August to May. Parents are welcome to drop their kids off or to stay and participate with their child.
- Advanced reservation required. Register online or by mail or fax (713-681-1191). Payment must be included at time of registration.
- Registration deadline is the Wednesday prior to each class; confirmation will be mailed or emailed to you.
- Cost (per child/per class): $15 for members (Family Tree or above); $30 for non-members.
- Series Discount: Register for all 5 classes by January 23 and save: $65 for members; $130 for non-members.
- Cancellation policy: You must notify us of your cancellation in writing via fax (713-681-1191) or email no later than 10 days prior to class to receive a 50% refund.
No refunds are issued within 10 days of class.

| Come discover the reptiles and amphibians of the Arboretum this spring. These cold blooded organisms are found throughout our forest and ponds. |
Totally Turtles - Saturday, January 26: * Registration open through Thurs. Jan. 24
Turtles live fascinating lives. Learn how these prehistoric organisms survive the first days of life and how they are adapted for their specific habitats. Students will create their very own pet rock turtle to take home!

Tigers at the Arboretum - Saturday, February 23: 9:00-11:00 am
The Arboretum tigers are black with yellow spots…not your typical tiger! Learn about the tiger salamander and the lesser siren and the secretive lives they lead.

Leapin’ Lizards - Saturday, March 29: 9:00-11:00 am
What do skinks, anoles, and geckos have in common? They are the different kinds of lizards that live at the Arboretum. Explore how lizards use camouflage to catch moving prey and hide from predators, while living a day in the life of a lizard.

S-S-S-snakes! - Saturday, April 26: 9:00-11:00 am
Snakes do not have legs, arms, nails, or claws so how do they get around, find food, or defend themselves? Student will explore the answers to all the questions with fun hands on activities. |
Calling all Frogs - Saturday, May 24: 9:00-11:00 am
Discover why frogs are called bio-indicators by scientists, why they sing when it rains, what they need to survive, and much more. To emphasize habitat needs we will be building tadpole habitats that you can take home! |
Is your child wild about nature? The Arboretum is the natural place to celebrate a birthday.
