Exploring Nature

Birds of all kinds need protection from predators and bad weather and a safe place to raise their young – come learn how to improve our urban habitat for Houston’s most valuable owl, the Eastern Screech Owl.

Date: Sunday, January 19, 2014
Time: 3:00-5:00 pm
Cost: $40 members; $65 non-members.
Description: First, we’ll learn the habits of this nocturnal hunter of the city’s forests. Then, build a nesting box from used lumber diverted from the City of Houston’s ReUse Warehouse. This “make and take” workshop is family friendly – one child age 9 and up welcome with each paid adult.
Note: Necessary tools and safety equipment will be provided. Cost of workshop includes materials to build one next box. Additional nest box kits can be purchased for $20. Class is limited to 16 adults per session.
