Build Your Own Compost Barrel Workshop (1:00-3:00 p.m.)
Nature recycles trash into treasure – you can, too! Learn how to compost your own yard and kitchen wastes in this intensive, hands-on workshop where each participant will build their own 55-gallon composting barrel. You can create rich, dark brown compost in as little as 3 weeks!

Joe Blanton, the Arboretum’s Conservation Director, is certified by National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Habitat Designer. Before joining the Arboretum staff, Joe designed, implemented and/or managed 16 outdoor environmental education classrooms for Urban Harvest and HISD. |
| Cost: |
$75 for members; $90 for non-members.
All tools required will be supplied. Cost of workshop includes both barrel and kit to make one 55-gallon composting barrel. Additional barrels and conversion kits will be available for sale at the end of class for $65. Registration limited to 25. |
