The perfect gift that keeps on giving long after the holiday season becomes a distant memory is a Texas native tree, shrub or flowering perennial. This year, over 110 different species are available, including: 44 Trees, 20 Shrubs, 8 Vines, 5 Grasses and Sedges, 25 Wildflowers, 3 Groundcovers, 11 Pond/Bog and Rain Garden lovers, and 4 Ferns. Plus, many are shade tolerant!
The highlight of this year’s sale include 10 gallon trees and shrubs for only $70. Choose from Winged Sumac, Eastern Redcedar, Mexican Plum, Eastern Redbud, Dwarf Barbados Cherry, White Oak, Shumard Red Oak, Green Ash, Water Oak, Possumhaw Holly, Drummond Red Maple, Sweetgum, Swamp Chestnut Oak, Red Bay, Cedar Elm, River Birch, Leatherwood, American Elderberry, Mayhaw, Southern Wax Myrtle and Roughleaf Dogwood. Many of these species are available in smaller sizes.
Don’t forget to pick up $7 bags of Leaf Mold Compost, Native Hardwood Mulch, and Raised Bed Garden Soil from local manufacturer THE GROUND UP.
Arboretum members receive a discount on all plant purchases between 10-25%, depending on membership level. Proceeds from this sale support the Arboretum’s education and conservation programs. The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
Plants are sourced from local growers and proceeds from the sale benefit the Arboretum’s conservation and education efforts.
