February 2: Orienteering – How to Find Your Way in the World

Maps, compasses, and GPS units can help you find your way. While having fun hunting for a geocache or going on a scavenger hunt, we’ll learn how to locate our position using both the latest technology and tools that have stood the test of time.

Have fun, be safe, and leave no trace – that’s the motto of a good camper, whether you camp in your own backyard or out in the wild. We’ll cover the basics of how to make a campfire, set up a tent, and enjoy a night outside under the stars.

Learn how to bait a hook and paddle around a pond! This month, Naturalist Explorers will get to experience two of the best ways to enjoy outdoor time on the water! These fun activities are also the perfect time to also learn about our valuable water ecosystems and why it’s important to protect them.
