The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center has begun the master planning process for a large-scale refurbishment of our grounds and facilities. The master plan will set forth a comprehensive vision for future development of the Arboretum and will identify both long-term strategic aims and immediate priority projects for the ecological systems that comprise the property. The master plan will enable the Arboretum to more effectively fulfill its two primary purposes – conservation and nature education – for decades to come.
The Arboretum has chosen Design Workshop, an Austin-based nationally recognized park planning, design, and landscape firm, to develop its master plan. In 2008, Design Workshop was recognized as Firm of the Year by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).
We are excited about the future of the Arboretum and will be conducting a series of workshops and focus groups to ensure that the master planning process is informed by input from key stakeholders – our donors, volunteers, visitors, and educators. Please check back with us to find more information on the plan, upcoming workshops, our donors, and our project team.
