Naturalist Explorers

Naturalist Explorers classes introduce children ages 5 to 8 to environmental and natural history topics in a fun and enthusiastic atmosphere.

Classes include a short introduction inside followed by hands-on, engaging activities outside. Parents are welcome to participate with their child or drop them off.

All classes include a short introduction inside followed by outdoor activities. Children should come dressed for the weather, wear closed toe shoes, and bring a snack and water. Parents are welcome to drop their kids off or to stay and participate with their child. Classes are offered one Saturday each month from September to May.

  • Advanced reservation required. Register online, in person, or by mail or fax (713-682-2539). Payment must be included at time of registration.
  • Registration deadline is noon on Friday prior to each class; confirmation will be mailed or emailed to you.
  • Cost (per child/per class): $15 for members (Family Tree or above); $30 for non-members.
  • Register for spring class series and save $10-20! (all five classes, January-May) .
  • Cancellation policy: You must notify us of your cancellation in writing via fax
    (713-682-2539) or email no later than 10 days prior to class to receive a 50% refund. No refunds are issued within 10 days of class.

We make about 230 million tons of trash in the United States each year! Learn how you can reduce, reuse, and recycle to help stop trash from ending up in our landfills.

We use energy everday. The choices we make about how we use energy impact the environment. Come learn to be energy wise in your everday life. Make your own solar oven to take home.
