Summer Art Camp
Join us for Summer Art Camp – Art Enrichment Classes at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center
Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, in partnership with City ArtWorks, is offering Summer Art Camp classes for ages 5 to 12. City ArtWorks provides fun, creative art classes inspired by nature. Summer Art Camp classes encourage creative problem solving, help develop critical thinking skills, and expose children to visual arts concepts and history.Summer Art Camp is offered from June 10 through August 16, 2013. (There will be no Art Camp the week of July 4th.) Children will explore the world of nature while making two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art from a variety of art materials. Cost is $100 for members; $125 for non-members. Pre-registration required.
Courses can be used to extend your child’s day at Summer Camp OR can be a stand-alone summer art experience!

What is it like to be an ant? What if a squirrel could talk? We delve into the world of our local wildlife, exploring the insects, mammals, and reptiles of our own backyards. Let fur, feathers, and fins be your inspiration! We will create stories and imaginative artworks based on the ordinary (and not-so-ordinary) lives of these animals. |

Our world is full of interesting colors, shapes, and textures. Look around – what do you see? Let the earth itself inspire your art by exploring plants, animals, and the earth. We will be using sticks, leaves, and other natural elements in our art this week. |

Nature is so inspiring! This class focuses on the natural beauty of our environment. We will study the impressionist landscapes of Monet, as well as create art from the earth with clay. |
