Weddings

The Nature Center grounds can provide a beautiful, natural setting for small wedding ceremonies or other special services.

The two locations on the Nature Center grounds where small events can be held include: Emmott Circle and The Overlook Deck.

Emmott Circle is the larger of the two areas and can accommodate up to 50 people. The Overlook Deck includes bench seating for 25.Emmott Circle

To book a wedding:

  1. Review Houston Arboretum & Nature Center policies below regarding outdoor functions.
  2. Visit the Nature Center to look at the locations. Staff at the Information Desk can direct you.
  3. Fill out our rental inquiry form

Policies for Weddings and other Outdoor functions
The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which has a mission of providing nature education and protecting the 155 acres as an urban wildlife sanctuary. Weddings and similar special events are accommodated on a limited basis.Overlook Deck

  • Services can be held when the grounds are open: 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. daily.
  • Locations within the Arboretum grounds available for ceremonies or services are the Overlook Deck on the Alice Brown Trail and Emmott Circle.
  • Use of building facilities for dressing rooms or as an alternative in case of rain requires advance reservation and payment of the usual rental fees.
  • No food or drink is allowed outside.
  • No tents, awnings, chairs, signs or other props are allowed on the grounds.
  • Flowers, decorations and music should be kept to a minimum. No balloons, silly string, sparklers, confetti, seeds, potpourri, or candles are permitted. Staff cannot accept deliveries of flowers, etc.
  • As a public space, Houston Arboretum & Nature Center grounds remain open to other visitors. Classes and tours may also be taking place on the grounds. We cannot guarantee privacy for your ceremony.
  • Weddings will only be scheduled if they do not conflict with the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center education and conservation programming.
  • We are a 155 acre nature sanctuary. As such we do not spray pesticides to control or limit mosquitoes or other insects. Insects are beneficial. Spraying of any pesticides (YardGuard, etc.) is strictly forbidden. Please consider bringing mosquito repellent if needed.
