All camps are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Sign your child up for one, two or all three days. Children are taught in classes by age: 5-6 yrs., 7-8 yrs., and 9-12 yrs. with enrichment experiences appropriate for your child's age level and maturity.

C.S.I. - Critter Science Investigators
Using the tools of a wildlife scientist, investigate the lives of the critters hidden in our frosty forest. Track elusive wildlife by discovering the clues they leave behind.
The day's investigations will include:

  • Food studies and identification.
  • Tracks and scat
  • Games
  • Animal Tracking

Survivor - Move it or Snooze it!
Who will survive our winter? Using, field observations and specimens from the Arboretum’s wildlife collections, naturalists will introduce the concept of M.A.D. - Migrate, Adapt or Die. Learn about the strategies for surviving hard times in a habitat. An investigative hike will help students discover these changes on their own.
Just some of our games and activities this day will include:

  • "Quick Frozen Critters"
  • "The Great Migration Challenge"
  • "Migration Headache"

and student performance of the “Move it Snooze it” Puppet show!

Cool Critters and the Fabulous Forest
Become a reporter for CNN, the Critter News Network. Learn about some of the winter celebrities of our urban forest, Great Horned Owl, American Kestrel and Peregrine Falcon. Write the news stories that we will post on the web.

  • Write about these cool critters: Coyote, Gray fox, Gliding squirrel, Kestrel and Voles.
  • Help create a Conservation Plan for Arboretum mammals and one to use in your back yard.
  • Investigate Owl pellets.
  • Make a Bird feeder
  • Mapping a study site, create a 3D model of your ideal nature reserve
